Back from the World Championships with Medals for the USA... May 1, 2010 -- The Mayer School of Irish Dance is proud to announce the success of two of its Championship dancers, Michael Hall and Matt Beckerle, both of whom brought home World Medals for the USA from the World Championships of Irish Dancing. The two boys have just returned home from competing at this very prestigious event held in Glasgow, Scotland March 27th – April 4th, 2010.
Michael, age 12, and Matt, age 17, both qualified for the World Championships at the Mid West Regional Irish Dance Championships held last November in Columbus, OH, and were then selected to represent the state of Missouri, as well as the USA on the world stage. Since the qualifying event, both boys have been hard at work training for the largest competition of their lives. The World Championships of Irish Dancing had over 5000 competitors from over 32 different countries entered to compete for these coveted World Medals. Michael and Matt both brought home World Medals for the Mayer School, as well as the USA, having placed 24th and 18th respectively. Both dancers did a phenomenal job representing their city, state, and country. The Mayer School is extremely proud of both boys and honored to have them apart of the Mayer School Family. Their hard work and determination have surely paid off.
